While Boston and the rest of the East Coast have been digging out from the blizzard, flight cancellations and airport backups have left Gregor and I stranded in Texas. We’re making the best of it, spending time with his family, eating way too much, and taking our new toys out to play. For me, this means a wardrobe of new favorite accessories; for Gregor … [building suspense] … a brand new camera! I think we’re both equally excited.
My mom did some impressive internet snooping for my gifts this year, managing to find a pair of the sold out Forever 21 platform heels I’d been obsessing over. I have (and love) the daisy print pair, but I wanted something that would go with more of my wardrobe. This subtle polka dot pattern is perfect! I’ve only had them for days and already I’ve worn them with multiple outfits.
I’m also in love with the vintage fur muff my parents gave me. My mom originally spotted a Topshop fur pouch in an earlier covet post, but when it sold out she found something even better. It reminds me very much of the Theory bag I’ve been seeing around the blogosphere. I plan to attach a longer, sturdier chain as soon as I get back to Boston, but for now I’ve been (gingerly) carrying it strung on a Betsey Johnson charm necklace I also received for Christmas.
Gregor’s parents gave me some beautiful jewelry and accessories from one of his mom’s favorite shops in town. I love the way the tassel on this necklace perfectly matches the color of the scarf. The earrings, which were actually a birthday gift from the same shop, have become my daily standby since I cut my hair.
I also managed to acquire some new rings during this holiday season, including a trio of Marc Jacobs plastic shapes and a fun farmers market find from Ohio. I’m very into stacking and layering right now, although Gregor accuses me of becoming some sort of crazy ring lady.
[Erica Anenberg double ring; Marc Jacobs plastic geometric ring trio; Juicy Couture heart crystal ring (a gift from Gregor many years ago); Jacquie Aiche herkimer waif ring and Club Monaco square top ring (more recent gifts from Gregor); vintage ring handed down from my mom; fork ring from the public market in Dayton, Ohio]
As lovely as this holiday has been, I think Gregor and I are both looking forward to getting home to our own apartment and our Weetzie brat bunny. Fingers crossed we’ll be back to snowy New England by tomorrow night.
