Costume Department: Eternal Weekend

This vacation is beginning to feel like an eternal weekend – a fantasy that is sure to be unpleasantly shattered when my alarms for work begin going off a few hours from now. This outfit had the perfect ethereal feeling for the last of my carefree, daydream afternoons.

The dress and bra were Christmas gifts Gregors picked out for me from one of our new favorite online shops, I Don’t Like Mondays.  If the dress looks vaguely familiar that’s because I posted a lighter, less strappy version in an earlier covet.  I wanted an undergarment that was intended to show under this ultra-sheer frock.  The Alexander Wang bra was the perfect solution.  I think it is meant to cross in the back, but I like the added interest (and coverage) of crossing in the front with this plunging neckline.

And is any outfit really complete without something atop your head?  This incredible refashioned vintage hat by my very talented friend Amanda of Red Bird Vintage actually has little birds perched on the branches!  It added the perfect touch of whimsy and innocence.

Love everything about these photos. How do you get such good shots and inspiration indoors? I have the winter blues and post holiday bloat, totally uninspired in the closet.

Thanks! There were 2.5 failed photo attempts before we got these. Our apartment is horribly lit, and by the time we got outside the first night it was already dark. We planned for early the next day, but it was raining and awful out (I considered this half an attempt anyway). Luckily we remembered that the salon has decent lighting and decided to give it a final shot.

Only just upgraded to a “real” camera, and already the Boston winter has me considering investing in a couple of spotlights to set up in the apartment… Of course, I can only hope for the quality of pics you’re always posting. ;) I’m sure inspiration will strike again soon!

I am 100% about whimsy and innocence! Love the criss-cross in the front. Unexpected, sexy and interesting :)

Anyway, I gave you the Stylish Blogger award: http://livelovela.blogspot.com/2010/12/two-zero-one-one-2011.html

Would love to see you complete it! :)

  5. Dude. LOVE IT. The way you’re wearing the bra is just the most perfect touch. You look so fucking awesome :)
