Leave it to the first sunny day of the season to reveal just how pale I am. I’ve never been one embarrassed by my lack of melanin – I’m proud of slathering on the SPF 100 – but when I saw my day-glo skin in these pics I was tempted to reach for the self tanner. A little CGI or a healthy dose of body glitter and I would’ve looked like something out of a Twilight movie. For now I’ve resisted the urge to go faux (and might have pumped up the pink pigment in my photos, to spare your eyes the burn).
These are shots from last weekend’s Boston Bloggers Picnic, put on by Melissa and Natalie of The Boston Day Book (photo recap to follow). I thought my Rodarte for Target dress was appropriately whimsical picnic attire. The shirt over top belonged to my grandma. It’s a strangely perfect match with the dress – so much so that they appear to have been purchased as one.
I’ve also officially converted my fur muff into a functional purse with the addition of a small makeup pouch. It seems wrong to be carrying fur in warmer weather, but the sheer ridiculousness of it makes me love it even more. I think I will have to retire it after tomorrow – maybe no fur Memorial Day to Labor Day? Don’t hold me to it, though – I have a thing for breaking fashion rules.
