When it rains, it pours – more than one person said that to me last week. It began with small stresses – flare-ups with eye issues, etc – but last Monday night all other priorities dissipated when Gregor was victim to a violent mugging at our doorstep.
Thank you to those who heard the news and expressed concern via Twitter. It was a horrific and unsettling experience, but as of yesterday he was back to work and solid foods, with only a few remaining bruises and a broken nose left to show of the ordeal. It seems odd to say we were lucky, but I’m well aware it could have been much worse.

After a week of recovery and pain meds at home, Gregor was antsy to get out of the apartment. We had plans to spend Sunday in aimless wanderings and adventures. I even had some new clothes to show off – an eagerly awaited package from Romwe had arrived amidst the chaos of the week. Naturally, the minute we stepped out the door the sky opened above us.
More rain.

As our plans were forced indoors, we took the opportunity to play a bit with the camera and the glow from the windows. Photos were not as clear as we’d hoped, but they were perfect for me to experiment with editing techniques. I kind of like the results. They have a fun pin-up feel – particularly with the tied up shirt and high-waisted shorts!

I think your editing looks great Holly! Really editorial but not in a photoshopped/fake sort of way. And I love how the silkiness of the shirt came through.
I’m so sorry to hear about Gregor!! That’s awful, thank God he’s ok :(
xo, Ashley
Thank you! I realized as I was editing these photos that I probably should have steamed the shirt first… Oh well!
glad to hear gregor is doing better. so scary, but thankfully not worse! your photos are amaaazing! love the b/w background & just you in color. so retro! lovely as always!!!
Black and white was a strategic move to take focus off some of our clutter!
The photos worked out so well, I am dying to try out some new editing ideas myself. Between iphoto and photoshop I could get lost for hours. Glad to hear Gregor is feeling better. So senseless.
I’ve gotten so lazy with Photoshop! I do almost all my editing in Picnik now. Still plenty of options to get lost in.
Oh my goodness! I’m sorry to hear that happened, but so glad he is ok.
Thank you! He’s all healed and back to normal now. We’re both very thankful that it wasn’t any worse!
Glad to hear he is better – that must have been such a terrifying experience for you! In your own neighborhood – ugh.
On the outfit side – I love the shirt and the shoes. J. Simp is forever surprising me with her shoe line!
The fact that it happened where we live was most unsettling – at least for me! He seemed to immediately accept that it was an isolated incident in an otherwise safe area.
And I’m also always surprised and impressed with her shoe line! These are some of my favorites!
wow!!! I LOVE IT!!!!
Thanks! I need to study up on some of your photo editing techniques. Your pics are always inspiring!
