The deficit of patterns in my wardrobe is something of an enigma. I have no aversion to prints – in fact I have made it an active goal to amass more. The most likely problem is that I am too particular when it comes to picking patterns. Spots and stripes are nice, but basic. Florals are lovely if the color, size and execution are just right, but if not they can come off looking cheap or cheesy.
The one print that has stolen my heart, lately and for always, is galaxy print. The infatuation was fueled by collections from Christopher Kane and Setareh Mohtarez, but the elevated price tags on these heavenly bodies were well beyond my reach.
That’s why I was thrilled to discover this cosmic dress for under $50 on Romwe. It is print perfect, and the light-as-air asymmetric sweep floats and dances in the wind with other-worldly allure.

I took advantage of the opportunity to hone my pattern play skills, layering the sheer shift over a diamond bodysuit. The effect was too subtle to earn me a medal in mixology, but I appreciated the added interest (and coverage).

If you’ve been watching the last few outfit posts closely, you may have noticed another very subtle addition – a scattering of pinkish-purple highlights. I was putting a new beauty trick to the test. I am beyond excited with the results – but more on that coming soon!

Thanks! Details going up tonight!
This print looks dreamy, particularly up against the background of the blue hydrangeas. What a beautiful look!
Thank you! That’s one of my favorite corners of the garden! The hydrangeas were too pretty not to photograph.
I’m a stripes and dots girl myself, but you pull off this galaxy print well Holly! I love love love your hair (in fact when I saw Lauren Conrad’s multicolor tips you were the first person I thought of, like Holly could totally rock this rainbow out.) And your makeup is especially lovely here!
Thanks! I finally started wearing a bit of a lip tint for photos, much to Gregor’s dismay.
